The drought has been thought to be the reason behind the flood in 2011 in which some people say that the dam management was done wrong because the people who control the dam were used to the dry conditions and the floods happened as a result. The drought of the 2000 is the most severe to hit Brisbane weather in over a century.

The drought brought the water capacity of the city close to 17 percent mark. The floods that came after in 2011 brought the water levels to close to 98 percent of capacity, but it also cause millions in damage to property in the area. Though the drought is technically over it can happen at any time again, and that is why conservation measures are in place.

Temperatures You Can Expect

The Brisbane weather is usually hot and humid. The winter which on this side of the world happens in June, July and August are the times when a lot of people visit Brisbane. The reason is that the temperatures are never that cold and the heat and humidity are not a problem. The temperature this time of the year averages lows of 51.2, and the record low is 37.4 which happened in the month of July. The average highs during the winter in Brisbane weather average close to 72 F.

As you can tell you will probably have great weather both during the day and even at night when a thin sweater will most of the time be enough. You also have less rain during the winter and that is why a lot of people decide to make the trip.

The summer when experiencing Brisbane weather on the other hand can in some cases be too hot for people taste. The problem is not necessarily that the mercury rises too much (though it does a few times a year, but rather that the humidity makes it very uncomfortable. The temperatures are the main concern when it comes to Brisbane weather, but as hot as they get, they are not the most dangerous thing about the weather here.

Cyclones

The one thing that can be of extreme danger to people in Brisbane is the possibility of a cyclone. Cyclones do not happen often in the city, but they have happened in the past. The reason Brisbane weather gets affected by cyclones is that it is on the risk area for them. There have been direct hits to the city but the last one to cause an impact happened in 2009 and it was not a direct hit.
